The Utah 1033 Foundation provides immediate financial assistance to the families of fallen police officers. The very day we learn of a line-of-duty death, a representative from The 1033 will visit with the family and dependents of the officer and present a check to them in the amount of $25,000.
Police officers in Utah have death benefits that vary widely from agency to agency. One common thread among them is that these payments are not available to dependents for some time. The 1033 provides support for immediate, unavoidable expenses, such as funeral arrangements and travel, as well as essential daily expenses like mortgages and groceries.
We cannot take away a family’s grief, but our contribution can help, and it makes a significant impact during a very a difficult time for a family.
As we grow our foundation, we plan to provide tuition assistance in the form of full scholarships to the children of fallen Utah Police officers. We have also introduced our Leadership Awards scholarship program, offered to the children of all active Utah law enforcement officers on a competitive basis.
Given the sacrifices our devoted law enforcement officers and their families make for the sake of our safety, we encourage and welcome participation from the community. If you would like to fund a named scholarship or are interested in getting involved to help us build our foundation, please visit our donations page or contact us directly.
